What is Eco Teamwear?
Eco Teamwear is part of our commitment to a sustainable planet:
We want to do our part to protect the planet. What better way to achieve that than by helping our clients play the sport they love in teamwear that is sustainable and kinder to the environment?
Our Eco Teamwear, looks, feels and performs just as great as our regular Teamwear. Our focus is still on durability, mobility, breathability and moisture transfer so that you can perform to your highest levels, in comfort, for longer.
But with Eco products our fabrics, dyes and packaging have all be specifically developed to to combine both high performance and a reduced environmental impact.
What is rPET Fabric?
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is the same raw material used to make both everyday plastic items (think plastic bottles) and the polyester yarn used for your clothing and sportswear.
So guess what? We can take that waste plastic and process it ready for reuse - either as plastic goods again or as new polyester yarn for our Eco Teamwear.
This is rPET.
Benefits of rPET vs Regular Polyester:
- PET is a crude oil product. So by reusing existing PET products we're reducing harmful fossil foil extraction
- One rPET Tee-Shirt can recycle around 8 to 10 plastic bottles, keeping them out of our oceans and landfills.
- PET uses about 90% less water compared to regular poly
- And about 70% less energy is used compared to regular poly
- Overall 75% lower carbon footprint than regular polyester
Is switching to rPET fabrics enough?
Not really. So, here's what else do we do to make our Eco Teamwear a truly environmentally friendly product:
- We don't use any harmful dyes that can often find their way into contaminating our waterways
- The inks we do use are environmentally friendly and certified bio-based
- All our garment bags are water soluble, landfill bio-degradable and non-toxic to animal and marine life
- We've removed all Hang-Tags and other unnecessary packaging materials
